No formal writing experience is required, just enthusiasm and curiosity to see where writing takes you. Each month's Writing Hour features a theme to inspire your writing. In the January session, shake up your creative outlet by randomizing your prompts! Select three words out of a hat.and the rest of the story is up to you.

This is a relaxed forum to experiment with and strengthen your writing. There is an option, but not the requirement, to share your work in each session. Write freely and meet other people who love writing for the sake of writing! Jane Dickson is an acclaimed visual artist who has been chronicling Times Square for more than 30 years in a variety of mediums and on a variety of unconventional surfaces—including vinyl, sandpaper, and Astroturf. Known for her drawings of New York City street life, Dickson describes her process as “drawing things to understand them.” Using newsprint and charcoal, this workshop invites participants to produce life drawings of each other through an interactive experience.

Observation, ways of seeing, vulnerability, and performance are themes explored in Dickson’s workshop. No previous experience in drawing is required. All skill levels are welcome. The workshop is free and all materials are provided. Starts your day with a morning yoga practice.

You will experience luxurious stretching warm-ups, empowering standing poses, and energizing breath work as we align the movements with the inhales and exhales. You will feel more awake, strong, balanced, and positive as a result of this time spent on the mat.
