I'll post again when I have more info on your issue.Sean - your issue is because you have the machine policy set for EnforceUpgradeComponentRules to a value of 1.has information on the machine policy.You should be able to set this value to 0, install Silverlight then set it back if needed. I will also follow up to see if there is a way that the Silverlight installer can be changed in the future to ideally not fail when this policy is set or at a minimumto provide a better error message that clearly says what the reason for the failure is. When do you get the error. Is it while running the Silverlighttools?be more specific when you are getting some error. So that it would be more easier to help.I agree you have had a clean installation I was only wondering if you have tried installing in this fashion an offline installation as mentioned in tim's blogs that i earlier mentioned.
It resolves most of the problems. Also try installing the SP1 manuallyif you are unable to install it via the Silverlight tools. And then run the silverlight tools to install it successfully.
I have EXACTLY the same problem. And i did EVERYTHING!!The silverlight v1 wasn't in the add/remove so i had to delete it myself in the registry and hard disk. Even after that, i'm unable to install any version i tried version 1.1, 2, 3!
Each time it stops at 90%. I tried to extract the exe and launch the setupmyself. Silverlight tool won't install cause i haven't visual basic.Anyway i need silverlight cause i pay for a service who just use it for video and i can't watch them anymore now!!
